The 2015 Games will be the largest multi-sport event ever hosted in Canada.
This is the 17th edition of the Games. The first Games were held in 1951 Buenos Aires, Argentina.
This year's games include the debut of golf, women’s baseball and rugby sevens.
Parapan Am Games
The Toronto 2015 Parapan Games are the largest ever held.
Wheelchair rugby is making its Parapan Am debut and 400 competition wheelchairs will be used.
350 km - the span of the Games footprint between Welland and Minden, or the same distance between Parliament Hill and the CN Tower.
The opening ceremonies
The show creation process started in November 2013.
There are approximately 700 performers in the show and the performance area is 930 square metres.
Over 110 minutes of music was composed and 3 months of rehearsals have taken place.
It will take 144 hours to load in and out with 40 trucks carrying equipment and staging. 51,500 spectators will watch the ceremony.
